My 28 students currently share 2 tablets for our classroom. We spend the majority of our day playing outside, engaging in hands-on learning, and using real life materials. However, our days are missing a technology piece and a chance to access the incredible resources available via student internet interaction. I believe that access to appropriate technology can open up new worlds for our kids. There are many educational apps that can reach a wide range of learners. I want all of my children to have the ability to use that technology to expand their educational journey. Many of my scholars are English Language Learners - they are still building their English vocabulary and their understanding of the English language. The interactive nature of these tablets can help support their language acquisition. The ability to download apps regarding social stories and emotions can also help support our kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We would love for our kids to be able to use ABC Mouse, Reading A to Z, Moose Math, Touch and Learn Emotions, Starfall, and so many more programs.
