These materials will introduce STEM in a fun, hands on and student driven way that will foster a love for learning and exploration. The Timbers and Cross Cut blocks will allow my little ones to become Engineers with these realistic blocks. They will have endless opportunities to create structures. The Dinosaur Bones Match up will allow them to become Paleontologist. I will place these bones in the Kinetic Sand. Once they excavate the bones they will compare, match them to the Matching/Measurement cards, measure the lengths, place them in order and count the number of bones for each set. This is a cross curricular activity that will introduce them to new vocabulary, science and math. The Ramptastic activity will invite the children to explore STEM concepts through prediction and experimentation. The sturdy wooden incline ramp has six varying textures which gives the children an opportunity to test the effects of surfacing, weight, and velocity on the potential speed and function of different objects. Ramptastic also introduces simple machines to children. Create-A-Path and Engineer-A-Coaster Sets will allow the students to build, test and reconfigure a variety of pathways—sharpening STEM problem-solving skills as they create different configurations for the ball to travel. Engineer a Coaster gives a different dimension. Through trial and error, students learn how the track position affects the disk—as it rolls and fall from track to track and into the goal box! Through manipulation, investigation and trial and era with these engaging materials, the students will be able to problem solve, work collaboratively and develop critical thinking skills. Immersion and introduction of STEM must start early if we want to continue the drive for our students to become Scientist, Engineers, Mathematician and 21st century Technological geniuses.
