This year I would love to give my students the opportunity to choose the type of seating that will help them learn best. This will help encourage the students to make wise choices and to have self-discipline. It will also allow the classroom setting to be more comfortable and feel like a home away from home for my students. A place where they can be themselves. How will my cozy home away from home classroom be achieved? I would like to use the futon to create a reading cafe area. This will be combined with a table. The students can choose to read, do work, collaborate with others all while sitting in a coffee shop type setting. I have already purchased a coffee table and I would like to use the wobble cushions as pillows for the students to sit on while they work. The stools would be placed around the room for easy access. They would be used for partner work or simply just used for a student to do their Independent work. The bounce balls would be used for my kiddos that just cannot sit still and need a little wiggle. Clipboards are needed so the kids can have a hard surface to work on. Each child would get their own personal clipboard. My vision is to one day get rid of all of my desks, but for now I am taking the first steps to creating a home away from home for my students. They are worth it! Thank you for helping us out!
