My students and I enjoy exploring the world around us through the use of books, printed material, and powerpoints that I am able to project. In order to take my classroom to the next level and create a 21st century environment, my classroom is in need of technology. Right now we have limited access of Chromebooks to share between four sixth grade classes; therefore, I am requesting three more Chromebooks in order to allow us to explore outside the four walls of my classroom. We will use these Chromebooks to access Google Classroom that allow students to use documents and slides, access online scavenger hunts, research a historical figure or event, and learn how to use credible sources. The Chromebooks also allow them to access MyOn, which is basically Netflix for books. My students beg for MyOn everyday during reading, and with this tool they have access to over 12,000 titles at their fingertips. This has been an essential tool in making reluctant readers interested in reading every day.
