My students need saucer chairs, a rolling cart, lamps, electric pencil sharpener, 26 seat sacks, and other items to make the room comfortable for the students. A lot of the materials found on my list have to do with organization. Many of my students go from home to home throughout the year, and school may be their only constant. Therefore my kids bring a lot of their "home" things to school. These materials such as the seat sacks, utility cart, and cube organizer bin, can help give them a space to keep their items safe as well as teach them to stay organized and responsible with their materials. Other items are designed to create a calming and open environment. I will use the lamps in the classroom instead of the overwhelming, bright lights to create this atmosphere. The diffuser and oils are also a calming tool for students as well as it makes the room smell inviting and not like a sweat shop. To make the room a comfortable learning space that they want to be in, I plan to create a reading corner using the rugs for students to sit on the floor with a book as well as the saucer chairs, to create a comfortable space to sit quietly to work or read. Other materials, like the pencil sharpener and pencils are not provided to teachers and often break throughout the year, these items will be used on a daily basis.
