Flexible seating gives students options. I have found that students enjoy reading independently more so when given the option to read away from their desk. The floor seats offer a comfortable way for students to enjoy with a good book. Students love using the lap desks to complete writing in our classroom. Students are able to take their paper and pencil and choose where they want to work. Giving students these choices encourages students to take ownership of their own learning and success. "Students who read widely and frequently are higher achievers than students who read rarely and narrowly (Scholastic: Classroom Libraries Work!)"
