Sherman is a Title I school located in the heart of the Northside very close to downtown Houston. My student come from very high poverty households, where the median income is roughly $19, 500. Therefore, we have 98% on free or reduced lunch. My students are English Language Learners who come to school eager to learn despite the many challenges they have at home. Parents really want what is best for their children and trust me as their teacher to guide them in the correct direction. The students have many different needs and struggles, yet daily they come to class with a huge smile ready to learn. They are so loving and I want to foster that love and care of school. I want to empower the students daily, so that they can become productive, successful and kind human beings.
