Without an art teacher that is knowledgeable and experienced in art, these painting kits are a way that students can showcase their talents and be a part of something that doesn't involve sports. The creative ability of so many of my students is rarely seen. These resources will allow my students to learn about and explore the art of oil painting. The resources that I am requesting are a variety of paint by number kits with varying degrees of difficulty. Specifically, I have chosen oil painting kits with a variety of scenes. There are street scenes, nature scenes, paintings of animals and scenes depicting ships and cabins in the woods. The students will have a choice in which piece they want to paint. Having these kits will give these students one class period where they can come and work on a project doing something that they enjoy and are good at. After background information is presented about styles of art and different mediums used for the different types, students will be able to choose a scene from the oil paintings to create their own project. Their finished projects will be able to be displayed throughout our library for everyone in the school to enjoy They will have something to work toward that is unique to them.
