My students are Freshman Seminar students. This is a Career and Life prep class. One of the many reasons why this class was adopted and required for all of our Freshmen is because our school district is battling a low graduation rate amongst seniors and a high drop out rate or failing rate amongst 9th graders. Also, many of our students do not know how to successfully get into a college. Therefore, this class is the beginning of their discovery of what they want to do in life and how to get there. The majority of my students are considered to live in poverty. However, they are rich in spirit and determination and desire to be successful and better than where they come from.
