My students need to create models to understand how science really works. Science can be hard to understand just by reading a text book. So I want to bring science to life for my students so they can see how all life really works from a hands on perspective. These materials will give my students an advantage and a chance to improve their test scores by becoming more knowledgeable of the content. These materials will help them to have access to a world of science that may not be easy for them to understand but will allow a better understanding of what science can be. The meiosis and mitosis chromosomal kit will be used to help students develop a more precise understanding of the different phases of each cell division and how the number of cells that are formed during the process. The osmosis in action kit will be used to help students receive a visual aid on how particles move in and out of the cell. This is one of the most challenging content areas in biology that I have observed during student learning. Now that they will actually be able to see it happening they can see how the semi permeable membrane works in the cell. Building the DNA structure will help my students to identify the different parts of the structures and complete pair basing with hands on learning so that when they see the structure they understand the difference between DNA and RNA. The Principles of Genetics Study Lab will be used for students to understand how the law of independent assortment and law of segregation is important during reproduction. It will help them understand why every person is unique and possesses different traits and characteristics.
