I am very fortunate to have a classroom with desks, chairs, and a collection of many learning materials I have acquired over the past 16 years. The majority of my own purchases for the classroom have been for literature of all kinds to support my children's learning. Very little money is left to buy lasting toys for creative play during recess time. This is a forgotten area in such an academic driven culture in our country. My classroom is lacking toys such as dolls and dollhouse furniture, blocks, and building materials to encourage imagination and cooperative play time.
