The books that I am requesting for my classroom will provide my students with knowledge, empowerment, and a better understanding of the world around them. The books that I have chosen are books that teach students character traits such as, bravery, courage, and perseverance. Other books teach students about different cultures and their traditions during holidays. In a world where diversity is all around us, I want my students to be accepting, respectable and tolerant of all individuals and to have good character. I believe that reading these books and having discussions about these topics will open the mind and hearts of my students. I believe that it is not only my responsibility as a teacher to teach students academic material but I also believe that I need to encourage good character traits and provide information that will build a good foundation of acceptance and tolerance.
