My Students are all based within Compton, CA. I primarily teach Seniors, but do help out with Juniors regarding US History. Compton often times gets a rough label from society sadly. Honestly, my students are merely plagued by their social zip code; they are some of the smartest, most driven, and enthusiastic young adults I have come across. The Compton revolution is indeed real and we are seeing a turnaround greatly. My classroom is one of experiential and collaborative learning. When in your life will you work alone 100% of the time? The answer is you will not. I setup my classroom to ensure that students experience working together through real life projects that pair content and the real world together, rather than just root learning via a standardized textbook. The work is no doubt hard, but the results are immense; this is how learning should be done always!
