I teach Mathematics to a total of 59 sixth grade students in a high poverty school in the upstate of South Carolina. The students in my classes face many challenges both at home and in school. For many, school is the only stable environment that they have. As a teacher, it is often difficult to motivate children to learn when there are numerous variables that affect their learning.
