Each Friday my students engage in project-based learning through our Bilingual Research Centers. Each project is connected to our current unit of study but allows students to select a subtopic of personal interest and present their learning to peers at the end of the unit. Having technology will open the possibilities of research topics far beyond what I can provide students with available classroom titles and teacher-printed articles from online. By giving students access to technology, they will truly direct their own research and learn the critical thinking and technological skills to become empowered and well-informed members of society. They will also learn the concrete skills of how to efficiently use a search engine, determine if a source is reliable, take notes in Google Docs, and present their learning through mediums such as Google Classroom, slides, and student-created videos.
