Both of these novels have amazing life lessons as well as a high interest story. Students will be able to improve their reading comprehension as well as their empathy towards people with special needs and animals. I emphasize independent reading in my classroom as well as read alouds. These class sets will be used as a whole class read aloud/novel study. It is my goal with these novel studies that students will gain a love of reading that will stay with them. This also exposes them to books and stories they may not have chosen on their own. My students always enjoy these current novel studies and are always left wanting more!
