These materials will make a big difference in my student's learning path. I teach the reading and social studies block to 5th grade students. We participate in many cross curriculum activities. The rug allows students to visualize the country with landmarks, directions, and physical features. Students will engage in movement lessons using the rug, such as move to a coastal state or land on a Midwestern state. It is functional as well as it is a cozy place to sit. A majority of their day is in the typical desk and chair setting. As an adult, I very rarely read in that position. I want to provide my students with a cozy area that is portable and functional. With the purchase of these exercise balls, balance balls & floor cushions, my students can sit anywhere in the classroom by themselves or with their station partners. These materials are the perfect size for my upper grade students. We have around 30 students and the seating materials and rug area allows them to get out of the typical desk/chair setting.
