My students are some of the most interesting kids I have ever met. Our school is composed of primarily Hispanic students. They are nearly all bilingual. It has truly been a great experience as they learn in my classroom and I learn from them. I teach at a title 1 school in Maryland. My students face many challenges that no child should have to face. School is a safe haven for many of our students. As a school, we have worked hard to provide our students with meaningful experiences, a loving environment, and a place where they can grow. In spite of the challenges faced in our area, our school has taken many opportunities to give back. Even those families who can barely take care of their own well-being have helped us in our charity efforts. I tell my students that every little bit helps and we work together to do big things. Because of this mentality, our classroom environment has been one of which I am proud to be apart of. We depend on one another and help as much as we can.
