The Osmo Learning Kit will allow students to use technology and hands on materials to bridge the gap between concrete and abstract concepts. The station allows students to work collaboratively to enhance number sense, geometry, imagination, and physics concepts. Students of all abilities will be able to create and explore using one of the stations provided: Number sense, Word Sense, Newton's Laws, and Tangram creation. Students will work in a center using one of the 4 Osmos, which is connected to an iPad. Hands-on manipulatives are includes so as to encourage exploration. With Number sense students will explore place value and math computation. The Word Sense kit allows students to form words, practice spelling, and explore word patterns using letter cards along with the Osmo. Newton's allows students to create "inventions" which challenge students to test the properties of motion. The Imagination Station allows students to create and draw when given certain challenges. When my class tracks out, other third grade classes will have access to the Osmos.
