My students need bean bag chairs, stability balls, wobble cushions, stools, and bouncy chair bands to improve their focus and regulate their sensory processing throughout the school day. The majority of my students have Autism spectrum disorder. They have difficulty processing sensory information. They engage in self-stimulatory behaviors and have difficulty focusing for extended periods of time. Flexible seating would allow my student to fidget in a way that will not distract them from learning. It will create a more comfortable environment while easing student anxiety. Flexible seating would also provide my students with choices and enable them to feel more responsible for their own learning. We would love to have flexible seating options in our functional classroom!
