The class is located in a small southern Illinois town with an 85% poverty rate. Our school, like many others, is hard pressed for cash and can not afford to air condition all the classrooms. A few of the students do not have air conditioning at home, and some struggle to keep the lights and water turned on as well. I do my best to create an safe, inviting, and healthy classroom where students want to come, relax, and learn something new, but it is difficult when the temperature outside is in the nineties or higher and the classroom is even hotter. Fans just don't get the job done! With a air conditioned classroom, students will be able to be comfortable, relaxed, and open their minds to see their full potential.
