First Graders have a lot of passion and energy every day! They need to be able to move around the classroom often and flexible seating with allow for that in our classroom. I'm asking for many different kinds of seating options for my students to choose from. "Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior, with the best improvements seen in students who are least on-task initially." Flexible seating will allow for my students to have these short bouts of physical activity and therefore be able to have more on-task behavior and better focus. My classroom will feature tables at different levels and therefore I picked various kinds of seats. Soft pillows will allow for students who want to sit at the lowest table. "Yoga balls" will be at the medium height tables and will allow students to sit and move around at the same time. For higher tables, students will sit on stools or stand. The stools are just basic stools, but I'm asking for two "wiggle stools" for some of my more wiggly students. This will allow them to do their best work while sitting at a table. I also am asking for some fun bean bag chairs for our Reading corner! My students LOVE my reading corner, but I need some new comfy seating options in it. My students enjoy sitting in that corner and reading! I am looking forward to seeing all of the amazing progress my class makes with these new seating options! Thank you for donating to our project!
