With these new books, my students will be able to choose a variety of books for our literacy circles that will allow them to read independently and in small groups at their own reading levels. Our current book choices are outdated and unrelatable to todays children, not to mention are missing pages. I chose books that, I felt, would spark their interest and (some) that are part of a series so that, in hopes, they would enjoy the first book and want to continue the series. These new and exciting books (Holes, Out of My Mind and Wonder) will provide my students with choices and variety when choosing their books. Students will have the ability to choose for themselves what book their group will be reading and discussing. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and attitude and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more! I can't wait to stock our literacy circle library and introduce the new books to my students.
