Using literature in Math will enhance my students' learning by providing meaningful context for meaningful content, the ability to review math skills, and most importantly promote critical thinking. Literature is not used as much as it should be in Math due to limited resources in school libraries and funds to purchase books for all subject areas. Math Literature is so important for students to make real-world connections and improve critical thinking skills! It is a great way to introduce new concepts. It helps expand students' vocabulary and helps math come alive! Using math literature helps math become less abstract and less boring. My students and I will be able to continue our love for reading and math by incorporating literature into our daily routine. It will also give my students more STEM opportunities because many of the books have hands-on activities available to extend their learning.
