There have been many studies that have shown the effects that flexible seating has on learning in the classroom. Last year, I wanted to give it a try. I started implementing flexible seating with just a few options. I began with crate seating and wiggle seats. The increase of student focus was astonishing! Just by placing a few choices in my classroom gave them options, and the opportunity to move increased their focus and willingness to work. I am moving from second grade to third grade, and I want to continue this innovative aspect in my new classroom. I know if I add these two new options, the learnature stools and ball seating, to our classroom it will only increase my students' focus and learning. When students are focused you can get them to learn anything. They want to work and they want to do well. It is amazing what children can do when only given the opportunity to move!
