I want to create a "home" feeling in my classroom for my students. They are so out of their comfort zones coming into middle school and I want to make them more comfortable. I have used lamp lights in my room instead of the overhead lights for years and my students have loved it. They even correct substitute teachers when they turn on the ceiling lights. Designing my room to be as welcoming as possible is important to me. I want to go beyond good lighting to more of a living room feel to my classroom. This will be somewhere students are comfortable to get cozy and read a good book or get to writing.
