Every week I choose a student from each period who was "caught being awesome." "Caught Being Awesome" can look like helping out a classmate, having a positive attitude, making a change, giving an assignment or task their all, or whatever surprising way my students decide to show just how awesome they are. I usually give a shout out in class and send an email home to let families and classmates know just how awesome this particular student is. It's a nice way to build a positive classroom environment as well as give me the opportunity to build positive relationships with families of students. But I want to add an extra perk to "Caught Being Awesome" this year by letting which ever student was picked sit in this chair for the next week. My students love chairs and furniture that are a break from their regular desk and chair--so I know they will love this! The material will also help withstand the year to year wear and tear that a middle school classroom has to endure with so many wonderful students coming in and out of the classroom every day. This chair will help compliment my students' behavioral and academic efforts, while also remaining mobile in case I need them to roll the chair over to their regular group for a task in class.
