My diverse students will explore STEM with hands-on materials that engage kids and make learning fun! With these materials, our young learners will actively become scientists, mathematicians, technologists, and engineers. They will control their learning as they explore the wonders of STEM. Kids will build, create, observe, and connect STEM concepts through literature. Students will learn for themselves how to solve problems by thinking critically and finding new solutions to complex tasks. Because our school population is comprised of 60% of students who are economically disadvantaged, their opportunities to learn with these materials is limited. With your help, my classroom will include a STEM learning center filled with literature for ALL students. This project will provide my students with center materials where they can learn about engineering through building with blocks, magnetic building tiles, and tunnels and ramps. They will become scientists by observing nature up close with the help of technology with microscopes and magnifiers. They will use slides and animals and insect specimens to learn about the world around them. This project will also give my young learners a chance to incorporate literacy into their STEM learning.
