We recently put a Maker Space in our library and bought several robots for our entire school's use. The robots are used in library stations, for academic lessons, computer science lessons, and in our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lab. Our students are learning the basics of robotics and computer science through the use of these robots. These robots need several batteries resulting in a lot of waste. We want to further our students' learning of recycling and human impact by making this change in our school. We want to use rechargeable batteries in our robots instead of throwing away numerous batteries each year. With the use of rechargeable batteries, we can reduce our waste and give students an authentic lesson on recycling technologies and human impact.
