A kidney table is imperative to small group learning. Students have space and access to the teacher. I will be able to teach standards with students close to check progress. I use small groups for guided reading and guided math. This allows me to individualize student learning. A kidney table makes it easier to see the students work and help them as needed. It also allows students to work in small groups rather than a whole class group and get the attention they need. This year I implemented guided math and I was impressed at how effective it had been. My students really enjoyed the change in pace math had become. I had always taught guided reading. It is one of my favorites to teach!
