Early on in my teaching career, I noticed students wanted to own the process of their learning. They asked important questions, yearned to make connections to their world, wanted to do and say something that mattered. In response, I proposed a Sophomore English for Social Action course and have been working to provide a unique and engaging experience for my students ever since. Our small New England coastal town is evolving as a community and my students work to find their place and voice within their local, national, and global communities.

About my class
