Reading Olympics is an extracurricular club in which students read a number of novels and compete as a team to answer questions. The competition pits them against other teams from around the county to answer questions about the novels that the students read. The Reading Olympics teams in my school are new (we are entering our third year), and we are still building our book sets (the competition uses a rotating set of book lists). The books in my project will be used to help my students study for this year's competition. They are excited to compete again, but they need the materials in order to do so. Some of my students have been with the team since its first year, and we have been working on team-work and competition skills. Every year, they do better in the competition, and they want to get into the top score bracket. They need these books in order to reach that goal. The books in my project will reach students in grades 6-8 as they collaborate across grade levels to do their best.
