The microscopes I am requesting will enable my students to see for themselves up close and personal the amazing features and characteristics of plants and animals in our world. NGSS 1-LS1-1 Animals have body parts that capture and convey different kinds of information needed for growth and survival. With the aid of microscopes, students will be able to see things not normally seen with the naked eye. We will be studying the butterfly life cycle. By using the microscope, students will be able to see the butterfly's egg on a leaf. They will also be able to see the larva hatching from the egg in real life! This will far outweigh looking at pictures of this stage of the butterfly life cycle. Imagine the excitement that will stir up student engagement in our classroom! I have seen how engaged students become self-motivated and can't stop asking themselves, "What about this?! What about that?!"
