These materials will make a big difference in students' learning because balanced literacy is an essential component of learning. The books chosen for this project are culturally relevant to my students and will serve as great mentor texts for readers and writers workshop. The clipboards, white boards, and timers will all be used by students to support their learning in word study. During word study students use these materials to engage in different types of word sorts and word writing. The storage cart will be used as community storage for our word study and writing workshop materials. The folders will be used for both readers and writers workshop. In readers workshop students will keep their shared reading texts and reading strategies stored in this folder, while in writers workshop they will use it to keep all of the stories they are working on. Other supplies like the post-its and chart paper will aid in teaching my mini-lessons and creating resources for students to look back to.
