Organization is a key component to a safe and productive classroom environment. Classroom climate can have as much impact on student learning as student aptitude. The organizational tools on this list will help our 5th grade class create a positive and productive classroom climate. My students will spend more time in our classroom than in any other part of the school, so the way our classroom looks, feels, and functions has a huge impact on how they learn. Supplies, learning centers, and materials are strategically placed in order to optimize student learning and reduce distractions. The Easel Pad, clipboards, and Wall Organizer will be positioned in different learning centers. Students will be able to grab instructional materials from the Wall Organizer, get cozy on the carpet and complete their work using the clipboards, while referring to visuals posted using the Easel Pad. The Literature Organizer and Storage Cart will help keep the classroom running smoothly. Instructional materials for the day will be kept in the Storage Cart and organized by class for quick, easy access. The Literature Organizer will be used for student mailboxes. This will ensure all students receive their take-home items and will reduce classroom disruptions since papers do not need to be handed out but can be sorted at any time. Lastly, the Calendar Pocket Chart will be posted at the front of the classroom. Our class calendar will highlight students' birthdays and holidays and help students keep track of upcoming events and important dates. My students and I appreciate your help in making our classroom a great space for learning!
