We are building our Positive Interventions program as a school wide initiative. We would like to create a space with a rug, a table and bean bags where students can shine as peer mentors or spend time with classmates in a positive, collaborative, environment. We believe that we must meet the needs of the whole student in order to achieve academic success. We want to give our students the opportunity and space to develop the social emotional skills necessary to be successful in the classroom setting. Through board games and creative play materials, our students will be able to learn collaborative problem solving, critical thinking and social skills. A cozy rug and bean bag seating will be used in a reading corner where older students will be able to share their favorite stories with younger students at story times or just talk with each other in a safe, inviting atmosphere.
