My students struggle with working together and communicating effectively. Games are an excellent way of teaching teamwork, communication skills and mutual respect. Sleeping Queens allows students to respect one another while playing and teaches students to control emotions when the game may not be going their way. Candy Land will increase my students communication skills in moving through the board and will teach students to be patient while playing and waiting their turn. Quick Cups is a fast reacting game that requires students to match colored cups with pictures, increasing students visual reasoning skills. This game will also teach students perseverance and persistence. My hope is that my students will enjoy playing games while also learning important life skills needed to communicate with one another.
