I am so excited to implement flexible seating in my second grade classroom. I started this year with just a few different options. I am already planning for next year! If my project is funded, my students will have access to wobble stools, comfy floor seats, and flex space wobble cushions. The comfy floor seats will allow students to move around the room and choose the spot that best works for them on various activities. The wobble stools will provide movement to boys and girls who need to move around while working. And the flex space wobble cushions can be used on a chair or on the floor. Students can wiggle and wobble while they sit, which will increase focusing. My students will be able to choose a seating option that is comfortable and works best for their learning style. This option may even change throughout the day based on their need or activity. I believe this will promote problem solving and collaboration. These seating options will help with concentration and allow students to move while learning. Students will be engaged and on task. I think these options will increase student motivation as well!
