Kindergartners learn so much in their first year of school. They learn to read, write, count, add, subtract, and just how to exist in a school setting. An important piece of that learning is making sure kids are engaged and having fun while doing it. The math and reading games and materials will help reinforce and extend concepts that the students are learning but in an exciting and interesting way. Kindergartners learn best through play. It meets them at their level developmentally while allowing them to grow both academically and socially. The reading games will be used during word work to help them grow in skills such as letter naming, letter sounds, first sound fluency, rhyming, and phonemic awareness. The math games will be used during small group math rotations to reinforce concepts such as counting, patterning, shapes, sorting, and number recognition. All of these skills are the foundation for the rest of their academic careers. If they do not have these, they will struggle to be successful later on. These games will also teach them important social skills like turn-taking, sharing, good sportsmanship, communication skills, conflict resolution, patience, and emotional regulation; all previously stated skills are important for academic and social success in school.
