These materials will help me by allowing my students the opportunity to see videos and read articles that they can relate to as individuals. The magazines allow them to have conversations about various topics that are going on now and they also learn new vocabulary as well. These magazines also help students by allowing them to have debates as well which helps them to support their thinking. This allows them to be able to have discussions without feeling threatened that someone may have a different opinion than theirs about topics. I will teach several lessson that will engage my students by activating prior knowledge and then introducing a topic that they are interested in to teach them a new skill or practice an old skill.
