Flexible seating allows students to make their own choices where they learn best, provides comfort, improves physical health, and increases academic achievement. Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD (SystemSmith.com). Most importantly, flexible seating allows students to learn better when they have the opportunity to collaborate together. Traditional desks tend to isolate students from each other and flexible seating allows students to work in pairs more easily, work as a small group, or hold class discussions as a whole. The WOBBLE chairs and cushions will give the students the ability to move in their seats why staying stationary in one location. Both Bunjo Bungee Dish Chairs will give students space to sit comfortably in the classroom and work on work in collaborative pairs or independent. The four set of Bed Risers will be placed under desks to allow students to stand to complete their class work. I have found over the past few years that many students need various positions (sitting, moving, standing) to stay focused. Each child learns differently and I want to provide an opportunity for each student to do their very best in my classroom.
