STEM challenges and Makerspaces are very big in education right now! Instead of using worksheets and outdated ways of teaching, a Makerspace and STEM activities would allow me to incorporate more science, technology, mathematics, and and engineering skills into my classroom. I want to provide opportunities for my students to be creative, innovative and explore the world around them. In addition, I want to find ways to challenge my students and provide them with relevant/real world situations they might find later on in life! There are multiple ways I plan on using the items I have chosen in my classroom. First, the code and go mouse and activities mats will allow my students to practice their coding skills. I feel this is very important because technology is such a huge part of our society. Next, the Lego sets will allow my students to practice their engineering skills. For example, my students can build a village, various buildings, etc. Finally, the straw constructor STEM building toys will allow my student to be innovative and think outside the box. For example, I plan on having my students work together to create a shelter for their favorite animals when we study habitats. With your donations, I believe I can get students super excited about learning. I feel this will taking their learning to the next level and inspire students to think outside.
