These tools will help give my students a multi-sensory reading experience that is fun and engaging! My students missed out on half of their kindergarten year, ensuring their reading instruction is effective and fun this year is my number one goal. These materials will be used during our whole group reading instruction time where everyone will have their own materials making their learning individualized and more engaging. Making sure that each student has their own materials will also ensure we are following social distancing guidelines. All of these materials are based off of the highly researched Orton-Gillingham methodology. Having been trained in this program this summer, I intend to teach it in the classroom for the first time this year. This reading instruction is specifically designed to help those students who struggle to learn to read and is highly recommended for individuals with reading disabilities. Working at a title 1 school that is culturally diverse, a lot of my learners tend to struggle with reading. Having been away from the classroom so long I want to make sure I am giving my students the most effective reading instruction that is hands on, age appropriate, and most importantly fun!
