The students in my classroom have varying exceptionalities. Among these are Autism, Intellectual disabilities, and Traumatic Brain Injury just to name a few. The activities that I am choosing are functional activities that teach basic skills, but are fun and exciting for my students. The activities are hands-on. The students in my life skills classroom, are very active and do not like to sit in one spot. They require engaging activities to keep them interested, yet still learning. Being a teacher in a special needs classroom, I have very little extra time or resources to create meaningful centers for my kids to use. Having these pre-made centers would be an amazing asset to my classroom. My students are on various learning levels. With these materials, I will be able to set centers up and increase the level of difficulty as meets the needs of the individual student. Being able to set up centers in my classroom will allow me to take one or two students at a time and work one on one with them while others are working on meaningful activities, learning independence and gaining self-confidence.
