My students are engaging in non-fiction text where they have the opportunity to see the world around them from the lens of different people, animals, and places across the world. The purpose of this project is to expose students to an array of non-fiction text, to teach about text features, and how to gather information from a non-fiction text in order to complete response questions. These types of response questions include text-based essays, open responses, and short responses were students must use references from the text in order to complete assigned questions from non-fiction, informational text. With this in mind, I want to provide my students to various types of non-fiction text while teaching text features to explore differences of non-fiction text with fictional stories.
