I am an elementary school counselor turned 1st Grade teacher. While I loved my 8 years in the school counseling field, I knew it was time for a change. I am so excited to venture into the world of teaching during the 2017-2018 school year! I'm especially grateful to continue working in a high-poverty area because I have the opportunity to help students who are at-risk and underrepresented reach their full potential. As a 1st Grade teacher, I hope to utilize my school counseling skills within the classroom environment. I love coming up with new, engaging ways to help my students grow both academically and socially. My purpose is to help students develop essential interpersonal skills, their own educational goals, and an intrinsic love of learning.
