Our students come from low-income households and often arrive at school as hungry, tired, unmotivated, and often times feeling like failures. We want our classroom to give our students the motivation and drive they need in order to not only feel successful, but to be successful. Our students find it difficult to sit at their desks; therefore, standing desks would allow students to stand while they work. In addition, we have observed that while our students wiggle, they continue to work; therefore, the cushions, wiggle chairs, and balance balls would allow our students to wiggle while they work! Some students prefer to work on the floor. Now they can with the floor chairs and lap desks. In order for our students to be motivated and successful, they need to be given the opportunity to learn in a way that matches their needs!
