Students can enjoy reading books that relate to content being covered in mathematics. Books about fractions and measurements can help students connect real world situations for what is being taught and see that there is purpose. Most of our students feel that reading is more of a chore and is not fun or entertaining; therefore, struggle during our assessments, such as STAAR, that requires so much of it. With a comfy couch and floor seat, reading time will be seen as a reward and something to look forward to as opposed to sitting on regular, uncomfortably desks. While enjoying their reading time, they are able to pace themselves with a colored and sound signaling timer to let them know it's time to transition in a non-chaotic, manner. Cute, fun and purposeful.
