Non-fiction and fictional texts will bring meaning to engineering and science through real-life application and connections. By building and experimenting with LEGO Sets, connecting straws and other materials, students will get hands-on opportunities to help support a better understanding of the scientific world. Students’ learning will come to life as they enjoy the scientific processes and begin to spark a lifelong interest in science and engineering. My students will learn to work collaboratively in small groups to create solutions and become "heroes" to the characters facing villains in the fairy tales we read. Non-fiction and fictional texts will bring meaning to engineering and science through real-life application and connections.
