My students are 7th graders in a rural town in Arkansas. Many of them love to read, but few have books at home to use. They love sports, mysteries, and being active. Our school serves about 500 mostly African American, low income 7th and 8th graders. Many of the books we have are out of date or are difficult for the students to relate to.
